Privacy Policy

TaxGhost is built around a simple premise: the less we know about you, the less there is to protect. This policy describes what we collect, why, and what we do with it.
The calculators collect nothing by default
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The figures you enter — wages, cost basis, vest values — are processed by JavaScript on your device. They are not sent to our servers, not logged, and not stored unless you explicitly choose to save a result by email.
What happens when you save a result
If you choose to email yourself a calculated result, we store the email address, a dated snapshot of the inputs and the computed output, and the engine version that produced it. We keep this so you (and only you) can retrieve a prior estimate, and so we can show our work if you later question a number. We do not retain the raw inputs in any other form.
No account, no password
TaxGhost does not require an account. Saved results are retrieved through a link sent to your email. There is no password to compromise because there is no password.
We do not sell or share your data
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use third-party analytics that build profiles across other sites. The infrastructure providers we rely on (hosting, email delivery) process data only to operate the service, under contracts that limit their use of it.
When the law requires disclosure
We will disclose information when legally compelled — a valid subpoena, court order, or as required by tax authorities in connection with the company's own obligations. We do not voluntarily provide user data to the IRS or any tax authority. See our page on IRC §7216 and Circular 230 for the tax-specific rules that govern disclosure of tax return information.
Retention
Saved estimates are retained while your account of the service is active. You may request deletion of any saved estimate at any time by replying to the email that delivered it.
Your rights and contact
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting privacy@taxghost.com. This policy may change; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version.
